This 3.5m wide alterations and addition is one of our smallest projects with big impact. The design converts a dark covered deck into a new sunlit indoor-outdoor living space for our client. North-facing openings at high level allow winter sun to reach deep into the room and reduce the amount of overshadowing in the backyard, proving a healthier environment and improving the outlook from inside. Internally, the living spaces are rearranged to accommodate a new bedroom and position the new dining room and kitchen spaces off the new living area. The entry is relocated from the side of the house to the front to upgrade the front facade and create a more welcoming street presence.
