This project reinterprets the form and appearance of a traditional Australian weatherboard and fibro cottage. The design relocates the entry from the side to the front of the house to create street presence and improve accessibility. The cladding and roof were replaced and new wall, ceiling and roof insulation installed to improve thermal performance. A new self-contained studio is located at the back of the property to create a private and sunny courtyard space that is protected from the south. A timber deck, raised planters and terraced walkways define the different areas in the backyard and connect the house, studio and ground level.
